Important and time-sensitive opportunity for those who are involved in caring for BREAST cancer patients/breast cancer survivors, even in primary care practices

Posted about 13 years ago by Richard Brown

Dear Colleagues:

I wanted to pass along some information that I hope you can share with other colleagues, your offices/hospitals, social workers, MDs, etc. This is VERY IMPORTANT for ALL counties north of/and including Jefferson county, especially those in NORTH ALABAMA, as it will determine how to allocate funds for breast cancer patients in these areas. So if you are involved in caring for BREAST cancer patients/breast cancer survivors, even in primary care practices, PLEASE READ:

***ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED IN A GREAT INITIATIVE***

The newly established Women's Breast Health Fund (WBHF) of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, North Central Alabama Affiliate are working together, in collaboration, to prepare a Community Profile. The community profile should be completed by May 31, 2011.

Part of the process is to survey "key informants" about what they perceive to be the needs of the community - breast healthcare, education, screening, treatment, survivorship issues, etc. The community profile will be used to help both organizations determine how to allocate funds and where to provide education and support. This is truly an important endeavor! It will shape the direction of both organizations for the next 2 years and ensure good stewardship of donated funds.

If you are interested in being a part of this great initiative as a “key informant” or know someone that would, please contact , Madeline Harris, RN, MSN, OCN, CBCN, 205-988-4961, mharrisdbacaring@aol.com. OR Deborah K Walker, DNP, CRNP, AOCN at dkwalker@uab.edu or 205.975.9101.

Thank you so much!
