Dear Members,
On Jan. 29, the Department of Education released a proposed rule defining “professional students.” Although nurse practitioners (NPs) meet the criteria for professional degrees, they were not included in the final definition. AANP is actively engaging with Congress and the Department of Education — independently and through coalitions — to ensure NP students retain access to federal student loans.
As Fellows of AANP, we need your help to ensure the future of the NP profession remains strong! Submit a letter to the Department of Education using templates in the AANP Advocacy Center. Personalize your comment letter describing how these proposed changes would affect your practice, school, facility, or community, and submit it before the Mar. 2 deadline. View AANP President Valerie Fuller’s message and access additional resources to support this effort. This is our moment to act, and every NP voice matters. As leaders in the profession, we are also asking you to encourage your NP colleagues to submit comments through AANP’s advocacy center.
Best regards,
American Association of Nurse Practitioners
